The Laredo Public Library does not control access points or information
links, which often change rapidly and are unpredicatable. The
Library is not responsible for inaccurate or offensive information
that may be obtained through the Internet.
(1) A parent must accompany children under the age of 10, while the child is using the Laredo Public Library's computers.
(2) All Internet resources
accessible throughout the Library are provided equally to all library
users. Parents or guardians must assume reponsiblilty for their
children's use of the Internet through the Library's connection.
(3) Internet access is offered to the public as an information
and research tool. Accessing pornographic material on the Internet
is strictly prohibited. The Library's Internet service cannot be
used for commercial purposes. Violators will lose access privileges
permanently.
(4) Internet use is on a first-come first-serve basis. If the
Internet workstations are all occupied, then a patron may request
to be put on a waiting list for the next available workstation.
If a patron is not present when their name is called, they lose
their place on the list. Usage is limited to a one-hour session
if there is a waiting list.
(5) Questions or problems regarding the Internet should be referred
to the librarian at the Reference Desk. Reference staff will provide
minimal assistance.
(6) Access to chat room services is not allowed to patron users.
(7) Saving or downloading of files and the use of FTP is not
permitted. Printing is allowed. Printouts are $.10 per page for
black and white. Printouts must be retrieved within one hour.
All unclaimed printouts will be recycled at Library closing.
(8) Misuse of Internet Access will result in the loss of privileges.
